To All the officials organizing the International Pavillions

I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all the officials from various countries participating in the ‘Expo 2012 Yeosu’. I hope you will bear a great fruit in the Expo. I am sending this announcement out to the international pavilion directors in charge of performances and exhibitions.

The National Folk Museum of Korea, a representative museum in the field of living culture of Korea, is providing a cultural and educational space where visitors can take first-hand experience Korea’s traditional living culture. The museum has been making its all efforts to collect ‘folkloric materials from around the world’ for creative cultural space and open museum communication with the world.

In regards to this, our museum intends to collect folkloric materials displayed in each international pavilion as well as used for performances, after 'Expo 2012 Yeosu' is completed. Therefore, the museum expects to have donations of exhibited materials from participating countries, if at all possible.

Collected worldwide folkloric materials will be widely open to the public in the future, being used as exhibition materials of the museum's world folk gallery and special exhibitions; also permanently preserved in the museum and utilized as primary sources for mutual understanding of different cultures. I look forward to your positive participation and support.

Thank you very much in advance.

Yours sincerely,

Cheon, Jingi
Director General
National Folk Museum of Korea
