The curves of a mountain extended elegantly on the eaves of a traditional, tile-roofed house. And the crisp lines and floral colors of a woman's jeogori (blouse) that blend perfectly into the settings. Through the course of time, Koreans have fostered a lifestyle colored in the glows of nature, a culture that mirrors the casual tones of our nearest surroundings. These modest images and sentiment of everyday life define the character of Korean culture. The memory and emotion inspired by a fading photograph would be among the smallest components of what merges into the distinguishable color of our nation's culture for the present and future. The theme of the special exhibition is based on the "100 National and Cultural Symbols" designated by South Korea's Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2006. The featured items are representative icons of Korean culture that epitomize its rich symbolisms and unique cohesion with nature. We hope to provide our guests with an authentic impression of the colors of Korean culture through our displays titled "Touching the World," "Creation of Color," and "Illumination."
