"Cheongmyeong" (淸明), which means "the day of pure brightness," falls on the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar. On this day a folk custom called "Dapbaekcho" (踏白草) is observed, and people go to a mountain or valley to eat and drink and enjoy the season. The third day of the third month is called "Dapcheongjeol" (踏靑節). On this day, people celebrate the arrival of spring by going to a picturesque mountain or valley to eat and drink and to see the budding flowers and walk on the fresh grass.
